LANDLORD BOB’S
DISTRICT III CLASS AA
TEAM TOURNAMENT
PREVIEW
Unbelievable – another dual season almost put to rest. Not to worry we have been blessed with 3 days of terrific wrestling and the chance to follow two teams on their quest for a state title a week later.
There are a few surprises among the seeds. I felt Juniata would get anywhere from a 5-7 spot. The Braves of Pequea Valley have to be disappointed in the fact that after all the
hard work they won’t be visiting the dual post-season. PV’s withdraw is somewhat similar to Hershey’s request for removal during a terrific 1993-1994 season.
There is no doubt that the two best teams in this field are Bermudian and Brandywine – you can argue all day who deserves the #1 seed. Seeds 3 – 5 are just; Boiling Springs dropped the first dual of the season and then went wire to wire cleaning house in the MPC. Schuylkill Valley’s slipped up against Brandywine Heights twice and once against Bermudian - sound familiar? Biglerville dropped one each to Bermudian and Brandywine while dropping their third to D4 tough guy Mount Carmel.
If you want a dark horse check out Delone, while banged up they could be a surprise Semi-finalist. All in all this comes down to Bermudian and Brandywine with the Bullets have the tougher road through most likely Boiling Springs.
The postseason commences now!!!
Round 1 at various sites Tuesday January 29th
#1 Bermudian Springs (15-0) vs. #16 Columbia (6-12)
White washing of biblical proportions...nuff said.
Bermudian 76-0
#8 Juniata (22-2) vs. #9 Littlestown (20-11)
Probably the best match of the first round – winner to be torched Thursday night in York Springs. I’m installing Juniata as a 3.5 fav.
Juniata 35-32
#5 Biglerville (24-3) vs. East Pennsboro (12-2)
A rematch of the ELCO dual final. The Canners at home should be tough to beat.
Biglerville 40-24
#4 Schuylkill Valley (20-3) vs. #13 Milton Hershey (12-7)
You can’t see this one being very close…
SV 69-3
#3 Boiling Springs (11-1) vs. #14 ELCO (14-7)
The start of a nice run for the Bubs.
Bubblers 58-9
#6 Delone Catholic (11-4) vs. #11 Donegal (10-6)
Delone is a little bruised going into this one but should prevail.
Squires 37-19
#7 Hamburg (16-11) vs. #10 Newport (13-6)
The Hawks are battle tested against some tough Berks competition
Hamburg 45 Newport 18
#2 Brandywine Heights (20-0) vs. Wyomissing (7-9)
Bullets get a league match to start off.
BH 56 Wyomissing 10
Second Round Thursday, January 31st
#1 Bermudian Springs (16-0) vs. #8 Juniata (23-2)
In past years this would have been a great match; problem is the Eagles are rolling and not ready to let up.
Berm 47 Juniata 6
#5 Biglerville (25-3) vs. Schuylkill Valley (21-3)
This will be a knock down drag down deal with both teams leaving it all on the mat. The Panthers are about 6 point favorites at home.
SV 22 B’ville 16
#3 Boiling Springs (12-1) vs. #6 Delone Catholic (12-4)
This isn’t going to be cake for the Bubblers but they should have enough.
Bubblers 33 Squires 20
#2 Brandywine Heights (21-0) vs. #7 Hamburg (17-11)
Before it’s all said and done this could be called the Berks County Championship plus Boiling Springs.
BH 52 Hamburg 15

Berm 33 SV 26
#3 Boiling Springs (13-1) vs. Brandywine Heights (22-0)
This is all about ever single match up. One slip up might make the match.
